Herschel Wical’s legacy
Herschel Wical graduated in soil science from Ohio State University in 1949. He worked for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), becoming their top scientist in his field. In 1966 he migrated with his family to Queensland, where for 35 years he continued his research into plant, animal and human nutrition and genetics. He did so privately due to lack of government support in Australia. He died in 2002.
