In 31 October 1991, the Argentine Post Office issued a stamp to commemorate Eduardos historic crossing of the Andes in a balloon in 1916.
Argentine Aviation Pioneer. On June 24th, 1916, he and the Captain Angel María Zuloaga flew over the Andes for the first time in a balloon, called "Eduardo Newbery" (hydrogen.) The flight started in Santiago (Chile) and finished in Uspallata Valley (Argentina.) The flying time was a little more than three hours and they reached a maximum altitude of 8,100 mts. In 31 October, 1991 the Argentine Post Office issued a stamp to commemorate that historic crossing.
