Martha KYNASTON

one of Cabot's daughters - Mary Kynaston - who, according to family legend, eloped with the gardener (William Roblin) from Caldey Island. She gave birth to and lost several children during her marriage, calling them Cabot Kynaston each time. Eventually a Cabot survived, and so did a William. They were shipwrights and after Mary's death moved from Wales to Kent where there were thriving dockyards at the time in Gillingham and on the Isle of Sheppey. The tradition of inserting Kynaston into the children's christian names continued into the next generation but has now died out.
