"Rain event" due. Below are the Weatherzone forecasts from today out.

ABC radio has carried forecasts from BOM forecasters, for the past 3 days at least, raising hopes high, of rain in our district as well as others. Most recent "rain events" have been "fizzers".

It will be very interesting to see how this one pans out.

District Forecast
Friday

Patchy rain areas early. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the day from the west, tending to rain overnight. Possible moderate to heavy falls in the west. Light to moderate N to NE winds.

Update - It turned out the forecasts were correct this time. Good for them.

Friday night it started slowly and rained softly most of the night.  25mm fell.

Saturday afternoon, just on sundown, a line of storms  passed over. The intensity of the rain was so great that the road outside of our house ran as a river, gutter to gutter, then up onto the footpath. 34.5mm fell in a very short time.

(2)  Very light rain/drizzle over 2 days. No runoff at all. The rain came in from the north west, flowing out to the south east along the jetstream line. Our area was lucky to be under the jetstream for around 3 days.

The temperature was way below normal in Kingaroy for those days.
We spent a hot, humid Christmas and Boxing Day at Bli Bli on the coast east of Kingaroy and had to endure a very hot, steamy Christmas night with short periods of mist ( and midgies! ).
At 3pm on Boxing Day ( Tues 26/12 ) on our trip back home to Nanango we struck cold air and the first sign of rain, just after Goomeri, around 70km north east of Kingaroy.
By the time we arrived at Judy's home near Nanango ( around 32km east of Kingaroy ), 30 minutes later, it was raining lightly and freezing cold.

As I write this at 10.38 am on Thursday 28-12-2006, it is 17.4 outside and I have a coat on!  There is still a total, deep cloud cover and a very light drizzle is falling, although as I look towards the west, I can see signs of the edge of the jetsream and a very light sky.

Below are some temperatures for Kingaroy Airport from Weatherzone to show how the days were.
